Typical E-mail Errors

Return to Support page

Most error messages that you will receive in Outlook Express will be caused from a setting or server name being incorrect in your settings. Make sure all your settings that are listed below are correct!

How to check settings in Outlook Express:

1. Open Outlook Express, go to the Tools menu, and click Accounts.

2. An Internet Accounts window will appear. Click the Mail tab, and double click your account listed in the window.

3. When you double click your account, the account Properties window will appear. Check to make sure the email address on the General tab is correct. Next click on the Servers tab.

4. When you click the Servers tab, you will see the Incoming and Outgoing server blanks. Change both of them to read mail.kci.net as in the provided picture. Also check to be sure that the account name shows your username with no spaces or extra characters. It also needs to be in lower case letters as well as the mail servers.

Then click Apply and then OK at the bottom of the window.

You should now be ready to receive your email. If you close completely out of Outlook Express and open it up again; you will be able to receive mail. By chance this doesn't work, please call Tech Support at 522-8107 or email us.

NOTE
Depending on your anti-virus program on your computer, it possible that your e-mail settings will have been modified to redirect all of your e-mail through the anti-virus software. This can cause your e-mail program to malfunction. The only way to fix the problem is to deactivate the e-mail protection in your anti-virus software so that your e-mail settings will be returned to normal.
